  • Life in the Suburbs - Art Exhibit by Manuel Monge

Life in the Suburbs - Art Exhibit by Manuel Monge

Manuel Monge's work will be exhibited in his next solo show at the Visual Arts Center/Summit Library, in Summit, New Jersey, from September 3 to October 31, 2024. The Reception is on September 5.

    About this exhibit:
Manuel Monge’s artwork celebrates the unacknowledged beauty of the American suburbs. Featuring common places like coffee shops and empty street corners, Monge’s work highlights the extraordinary features he finds within these ordinary places. Believing that love can be sensed in more than just happy faces and sunny days, Monge paints the love he sees manifested in familiar places on cloudy days or rainy nights. Evoking melancholy and nostalgia, the paintings in this exhibition serve as a reminder of the everyday, quiet places that viewers may regard in their own lives.

Manuel Monge is a Peruvian American realist artist. Although he’s had a long and successful career as an HR leader, which has taken him to five countries and three continents, painting and drawing have been an essential part of his life. Monge lives in New Jersey and works out of his studio in East Orange. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibits in several galleries in New Jersey. Monge is currently an MFA student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Dual Exhibit - Manuel Monge at Kienlen Lattman Sotheby's International Realty Art & Home Gallery

Opening on July 18, 2024, Manuel Monge is presenting at KLSIR Art&Home Gallery, in Morristown, NJ, his work on urban landscapes from suburban NJ - where he lives - and NYC - where he works. This is a unique opportunity to appreciate an important and representative body of work by Monge. KLSIR Art&Home Gallery is located at 55 South St. Morristown, NJ (klsir.com/artandhome). The exhibit runs until August 30, 2024

Manuel Monge’s work springs from his love of the extraordinary that can be found in the ordinary: a street, a coffee shop, an empty corner in town. Monge believes that love is more than just happy faces and shiny days. He finds – and paints – love in a cloudy day, a rainy night, in a busy road. His pieces evoke melancholy and nostalgia, and make their viewers look up and think about the common quieter places they know and regard. Monge’s work celebrates the sometimes-unknown beauty of suburban America.
